Moving In SECRET, released on 10.18.11, is Secret’s first album.
「사랑은 MOVE (Love is MOVE)」 is a upbeat song similar in sound to Magic and Madonna maybe? It uses garage drums and the guitar really makes most of the instrumental. The girls’ sing in a confident tone and the song reminds me of something you’d find in a sophisticated club or something haha. It’s not a really exciting song, though, but it seems like a good song to dance to.
Zinger is really annoying in 「섹시하게 (Sexy)」 as she tries to do a high pitched cute voice. Just, no. The song is the usual electronica song with some electric guitar to spice things up though it doesn’t have that much “unf” to it. It sounds relatively laidback for a song called Sexy, like they’re saying they’re sexy in as subtle a way as possible.
「웃지 좀 마 (Don’t Laugh)」 is a melancholic acoustic guitar ballad with a few other instruments backing the girls’ sweet vocals. Zinger has a rap verse in here, and THANKFULLY, she isn’t trying that cutesy thing she was doing in the earlier two songs. The song is pretty straight forward but it’s a really nice song and pleasant on the ears.
Next up is 「Movie Star」, which starts off with some classic sounds like the drums and brass to back up the girls’ vocals. The way they start singing the first verse sounds more like a secretive star since they sound like they’re whispering. Their songs are really starting to sound more like sophisticated versions of what you would expect them to be, which is interesting.
「AMAZINGER」 is definitely taking its sounds from the American rap scene. Well, whatever Zinger wants. I don’t like pure rap (besides a few selected artists), so next.
「Together」 begins with a pretty piano and orchestra instrumental that goes on for the first thirty seconds before the girls come in with soft vocals. Its pretty much your classic R&B ballad but it has a really nice sound to it plus the girls are doing a great job with their vocals. Zinger is doing that thing again with her cutesy voice… but it’s not that grating so I guess it’s okay. Wish they’d stop making her rap in an irritating cutesy voice.
「바래 (I Hope)」 begins with a soft “you…” from the girls and a mix of piano and synthesizer with some electronica along with it. Some electric guitar then slowly gets added in as the girls make their vocals stronger into the chorus. It reminds me of another song, but I can’t place my finger on what it is at the moment.
「Bastard」; what an interesting title. Well right off the bat its strong in its instrumental with synthesizer and electronica right away and the girls singing with strong vocals. The instrumental totally covers their vocals in the chorus, however, which I don’t really like.
The album ends with the laidback 「Neverland」 with a simple electronica and orchestra instrumental that backs their sweet vocals quite nicely. The chorus reminds me of a Disney beat, haha. It’s a really cute song and I like it.
As usual, Secret’s title song is kinda bleh, but their other songs are, most of the time, much better. I’m liking their more laidback, calmer sounding songs like Don’t Laugh, Neverland, and Together, which they excel out due to their amazing vocals.
